1. Jagannath Temple:-
Jagannath Temple was built in the 11 th century and is included in the divine Char Dham Yatra along with Badrinath, Dwarka, and Rameshwaram. This magnificent temple is the abode of Lord Jagannath who is the embodiment of Lord Vishnu. The glorious Oriya architecture, intricate carvings, the luscious Mahaprasad, and of course the sanctity of the temple are key reasons for this place to be on your bucket list.
2. Puri Beach:-
The picturesque of Puri beach is flawless with serenity and peace around it. Each sunrise and sunset brings a wave of positivity to your aura which is embellished by the fine white sand and the crystal clear water. The beach is well known for the appealing sand arts and the fun activities which include surfing, scuba diving, swimming, sunbathing, camel rides, and horse rides. In the month of November, the beach also hosts Puri Beach festival which is full of color and vibrancy.
3. Rath Yatra:-
Puri Rath Yatra or Car Festival is the major festival of the Jagannath Temple and is full of exuberance and vividness. The festivities of the Gundicha Yatra starts either in June or July where idols of Jagannath, Balabhadra, and Subhadra are carried in magnificent chariots to travel from Bada Danda to the main street of Puri to the Gundicha Temple. It is after 9 days that the idols are brought back. This festival calls for great vitality and excitement.
4. Raghurajpur Crafts Village:-
You must have heard of renowned Pattachitra paintings, and yes! Raghurajpur is the home to them. It is Odisha’s first Heritage Crafts Village and inhabited by the experts of Pattachitra paintings, Gotipua dance, and the artists which produce sheer poetry.
5. Chilika Lake:-
Asia’s biggest inland saltwater lagoon, i.e. Chilika lake is amongst the most popular places which are flocked by tons of tourists throughout the year. The place is surrounded by rich flora and fauna, exotic wild species, and is the home to many migratory birds which you can spot if you’re lucky enough.
The subtlety which Odisha Puri has cannot be defined in words. The colors, the crowd, the divinity, the sports; all of these things make it a must to visit this place.
